With so many options for makeup these days, what’s a girl to do? Where are we supposed to look to find the perfect shade of plum eye shadow or the sexy red lipstick Angelina Jolie wears oh so beautifully? Lulu & Bass is proud to expose one of our intern’s, Emma, makeup bag in search of some tips and recommendations for every woman. Whether you’re looking for a day to night look for a San Diego wedding or a simple date night change-up, we hope you find what you’re looking for by peaking inside one of our makeup bags.

What’s in My Makeup Bag…

Every woman has her go-to fragrance, her favorite lipstick for any occasion and even different foundations for a variety of appearances such as an engagement photo shoot or a typical work day; and when they get exposed it’s like, the cat’s out of the bag. Well, here I am and as I divulge my most favorite and useful products I hope everyone can enjoy the treasure chest that I swear by for weddings, work, and even play.

First and foremost, I need to get something off my chest. It’s kinda weird and unusual but hey, don’t knock it until you try it! Alright, here it goes… I use men’s facial moisturizer. Whew. Okay. I feel better already. I started using this brand a few years ago when I was with my ex and ever since, it has been like we never parted, the moisturizer I mean. I have held onto ClarinsMen Super Moisture Balm not only because it smells ah-ma-zing but because Clarins has a patented anti-pollution complex which means less wrinkles and lines (yeah!) and is beneficial to your skin. Also, Clarins has a line of women’s moisturizers, which are just as wonderful, but for some reason I keep holding on to the Men’s Balm. Using this moisturizer underneath your wedding makeup or a daily makeup routine, will also help keep your skin looking fresh and help everything stay in place.

One of my newer favorites is Supergoop CC Cream. I discovered this lovely little fella in my Birchbox that I subscribe to monthly and I recommend to any lady whose looking to change up her regular routine. I of course used the whole sample size within a week and couldn’t wait to get more. For a full size you only pay $32.00, which in my book is fantastic for a lightweight coverage that also smooths fine lines and uneven skin tone plus adds a SPF 35. How much better could this get? I frequently use the CC Cream as a primer for when I know I am going to an all day event such as a wedding or heading out to check out the newest club because I know Supergoop will last. Another thing I love about Supergoop is that I can wear it all by itself and still look gorgeous.

Usually found at the bottom of my makeup bag is Clarins Skin Illusion Foundation. I absolutely love the shape of the glass bottle along with the semi-coverage and radiance complexion the foundation provides. Whenever I wear this foundation I constantly get compliments on how great my skin looks and I always end up telling whomever what I am wearing. I feel this is one of the best foundations I have ever used, it has a light SPF, it smells great and contains all natural plant ingredients…what more could a girl ask for?!  Another great thing about Clarins is that I can layer this foundation to make it a more heavy coverage versus the light-medium coverage that it is on its own and I believe it is perfect for a bride’s wedding day.

I was recently taught that you canNOT apply your foundation with your fingers. Say what?! If you are one of those girls who wants to get your foundation on as fast as possible and out the door then you’ve used your fingers one time or another. Well I have to say I think I have found my fingers match: Chanel Foundation Brush No. 6. I have been looking for this makeup beauty for years and now that I have found you I am never letting you go. This brush may seem a bit pricey but the way I look at it is, imagine all the foundation you are wasting on your fingers and then wash away at the end of your routine; Chanel’s brush allows you to use less foundation and ends up saving you money in the long run. Also, using a foundation brush to apply foundation also gives a more settling effect for a longer lasting look especially for those women who want their wedding makeup to stay. Another plus is, the brush gives you a more even distribution of foundation and voilà you look superb in all your wedding photos.

Shiseido Eyelash curler has been an amazing addition to my eye makeup routine. I did not start using an eyelash curler until about 4 years ago and boy, do I wish I had one back when I was first trying on makeup. I was going from brand to brand trying to find one that complimented my normal to long eyelashes but nothing seemed to make them stay curled. I only simply ask that you try it because I am sure you have poked and jabbed your eyes with other brands but with Shiseido, I can promise you this will not happen again and your lashes will be curled for hours and last through your wedding after party.

I recently traveled to South Korea and almost immediately fell in love with their local makeup. Granted they have some Western cultural influences, for the most part, their brands are more founded in South Korea. I found Banila Co. Mascara – Seoul Wonder Fitting Volume + Curl and will never look back. Hands down, wear your lucky boxers on game day, throw a penny in the wishing well, this mascara is every girl’s dream. It has the perfect combination of volume for your thin eyelashes and a great brush shape to give an added boost to curl your lashes as well. If you want to use false eyelashes on your wedding day, that’s okay too because this mascara will make any bridal makeup even more fabulous. Plus it costs about $8 USD, which to me is a gift in itself for how spectacular this mascara is.

You have probably heard about the Naked line by Urban Decay and if you haven’t then I suggest you go to Sephora and try it now! I use Naked 2 and 3 for every occasion imaginable. I have had the Naked 2 line for over a year now and am not even close to running out. I recently received Naked 3 as a gift and I have already started using the different tones that vary more towards the warm side from Naked 2. This no-brainer, in my opinion, is versatile for every skin tone and can be used to create a subtle to dramatic look from daytime work to weekend San Diego wedding party.

Sexy Mother Pucker Extreme Plump XL Lipgloss is a product that is found in my makeup bag, my car cup holder, my random purse from last New Years and well, you get the picture. I recommend any bride to be to try this brand because not only will it enhance your lips for the wedding photo shoot but it lasts a long time so you won’t have to worry about reapplying it on your wedding day multiple times. The best part about the Sexy Mother Pucker lip line is that when you wear the lipgloss you get a fabulous tingly sensation on your lips. Sexy Mother Pucker has a variety of color shades but my personal favorite is the clear because I simply put it on top of any other color and/or brand that I want and then I’ve got sexy, pouty lips to flaunt for hours.

Whether you are a bride to be or just looking to change up your beauty routine, I hope that you find a product (or products) to try and then love it like I do. Enjoy!
